Kidz-N-Coats Golf Classic Brings Hope to Local Kids

Clixable was thrilled to be one of the sponsors of this year's Kidz-N-Coats Golf Classic, an annual fundraiser to help provide winter coats to kids in Sioux Falls. And by all accounts, the event was a huge success.

Held on August 26th at Sioux Falls' Prairie Green Golf Course, the tournament saw 144 golfers, more than the event has ever seen. And for our community, that means more warm coats for kids in need.

Golf, Games, Food, and Prizes

Thirty-six teams competed for the top score in this 18-hole best ball tournament. Pin prizes and games were featured throughout the course, giving players plenty of opportunities to go home with a little extra cash or swag. And in addition to a catered lunch, the tournament closed with cash prizes for the top teams and a raffle with thousands of dollars worth of prizes donated by local businesses.

Of course, the event wouldn't be possible without the many volunteers who helped organize and run the tournament. Clixable would like to thank all of them and the dozens of other sponsors who made it possible to bring hope to hundreds of children this winter.

A Round of Fun with a Purpose

The Golf Classic is the single source of funding for the nonprofit outreach program, Kidz-N-Coats. Charlie Dial, the lead pastor at Harvest Church of Sioux Falls, founded the organization after seeing a critical need in our city. With ten Title 1 schools in the Sioux Falls school district, many families struggle to provide cold weather gear required for our frigid winter months. Over the years, Kidz-N-Coats has given away hundreds of coats to kids from 18 months to 18 years old. And the organization only gives away brand new coats—never secondhand. Pastor Dial believes that "giving a child a new coat boosts self-esteem and gives them a sense of well-being." And when coats get distributed, absolutely anyone who wants one gets one. No questions asked. "It's not about proving the need but being the hands and feet of Jesus in Sioux Falls," says Dial.
